Supporting our Veterans

From the very beginning, Team Suicide Prevention identified The Coffee Bunker as an organization that we wanted to extend our full support to. Coffee Bunker is a unique expression of the Tulsa area community's support of veterans, active duty members, National Guard, Reservists and their families.

Coffee Bunker Mission

The mission is to support veterans and their families in their transition to civilian life through personal and professional development.

Coffee Bunker Vision

The Bunker seeks to ensure the successful transition of every veteran by being the best veteran service organization in America.

The Coffee Bunker was founded by Mary Ligon on a mission of passion to redeem the tragedy of her son Daniel’s devastating death after struggles with PTSD, depression, sheer exhaustion, and a crumbled marriage which all culminated in his death by suicide on June 10, 2007. Her goal is reaching out to others facing the same silent wounds of war.

As a result of a joint teamwork effort between Team Suicide Prevention, the wonderful leadership and infectious enthusiasm of Buster Brown, owner of Bixby Bicycles, and the gracious volunteers provided by Dr. Michael Horton (USAF), Executive Director of the Coffee Bunker, the Tour De Cowtown bicycle event that was held in Coweta, Oklahoma on September 17 was an outstanding success.

As a result of those efforts, the Team Suicide Prevention team along with Buster Brown gathered together on Monday, November 14th to present Dr. Michael Horton and the Coffee Bunker a check in the amount of $2,000.

It’s an honor and a privilege to be associated with an organization such as the Coffee Bunker that brings much needed care and compassion to support our local veterans and their families. To learn more about the Coffee Bunker, click this link The Coffee Bunker
